A new study by Prof. Yossi Tam of the School of Pharmacy, together with Dr. Liad Hinden and doctoral student Radka Kočvarová, found that two non-psychoactive compounds from the cannabis plant, CBD and CBG, may reduce fat accumulation in the liver and improve metabolic health.
The study, published in the British Journal of Pharmacology, indicates that the compounds change the way in which liver cells manage energy and restore cellular systems responsible for breaking down fats and waste — findings that could lead to a new therapeutic approach.
