The School of Pharmacy at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position

The Institute for Drug Research (IDR) houses a vibrant community of inventive scholars and scientists who are wholly dedicated to propelling the research, educational, and service endeavours of the School of Pharmacy. IDR's research focal point resides in unravelling the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying biological processes and disease pathologies, with a strong emphasis on employing medicinal, structural, and chemical methodologies to gain profound insights into the essence of form and function in medicine. We are seeking outstanding candidates for academic positions in one of the following three areas, each reflecting strategic directions of the school and its commitment to excellence in research and teaching:

  1. Medicinal Chemistry: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a strong emphasis on Medicinal Chemistry. Areas of interest include Medicinal Synthetic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, and Polymer Chemistry. Priority will be given to candidates with a distinguished background in developing synthetic methodologies and in designing, synthesizing, and studying both natural and nature-inspired compounds. Exceptional achievements in other areas of Medicinal Chemistry are also strongly encouraged.
  1. Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Pharmacy: The school is developing the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its application in pharmacy. Candidates for the position must hold a Ph.D. in the sciences. Priority will be given to those with research focused on artificial intelligence in medicine, with priority on pharmacy. Significant and productive experience in post-doctoral research on AI and its application in medicine and pharmacy is essential. The evaluation of applicants for the academic position will be based on innovation and excellence in drug-related research, commitment to mentoring and teaching, and primarily on the applicant's potential to lead original and groundbreaking research.
  1. Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences: Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in science, with specialization in Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nanotechnology, Pharmacogenetics, or Pharmacoeconomics. Preference will be given to candidates whose research contributes to advancing therapeutic development and healthcare innovation.

We are seeking candidates with profound knowledge, a broad perspective, and proven achievements in research, who are capable of building and leading an independent research group, and who are committed to mentoring students at all levels within the study programs of the School of Pharmacy (B. Pharm, MSc, and Ph.D.).

The screening will be conducted by the School of Pharmacy Search Committee. The committee will select a shortlist of applicants who will be invited for an interview at the faculty.

Professional Qualities: Candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish and manage an independent research group, show a commitment to high-quality mentoring and academic leadership, and be dedicated to advancing the educational objectives of the School of Pharmacy.

Teaching Responsibilities: The role involves significant teaching responsibilities, where successful candidates will contribute to undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise students at all academic levels, fostering the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists.

Evaluation Criteria: Candidates will be rigorously assessed based on their research excellence, innovative contributions to the field, commitment to teaching, and potential to lead transformative research in Medicinal Chemistry.

Selection Process: The School of Pharmacy's Search Committee will conduct the initial screening. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present a seminar and participate in interviews at the Faculty of Medicine.
