Dr. Raphael Benhamou of the Faculty of Medicine, together with Elias Khaskia and Deepak Dhatundha, have developed an innovative molecule that is capable of identifying and destroying an RNA molecule called TERRA, which helps cancer cells to continue to divide indefinitely. The molecule activates a natural mechanism in the cell that breaks down the harmful RNA without harming healthy structures. The study was published in Advanced Science, and offers a new direction for the development of cancer treatment drugs.
